Comox Valley (SD71) and Campbell River (SD72) Finances
Here are the facts on Comox Valley and Campbell River school district finances:
Comox Valley (SD71)
- Since 2001, six capital and seismic projects worth more than $15 million have been completed in the Comox Valley school district.
- Four sites in Comox Valley will be receiving a total of eight new modular classrooms as part of the Province's $144.5-million full-day kindergarten capital investment.
- Despite a further estimated decrease in enrolment of 86 students, Comox Valley's operating funding is estimated to remain at over $70 million.
- Since 2000-01, Comox Valley is projecting enrolment decline of more than 16 per cent while overall funding has increased by 18 per cent. Per-student funding in this school district is expected to be $2,525 higher than in 2000-01 (a 41 per cent increase)
- The Province has invested $375,000 since 2007 to establish and operate four StrongStart BC centres in Comox Valley.
Campbell River (SD72)
- Since 2001, seven capital and seismic projects worth more than $22.7 million have been completed in the Campbell River school district.
- Five sites in Campbell River will be receiving a total of nine new modular classrooms and a school addition with two new classrooms as part of the Province's $144.5-million, full-day kindergarten capital investment.
- Despite a further estimated decrease in enrolment of 162 students, Campbell River's operating funding is estimated to remain at $48.9 million.
- Since 2000-01, Campbell River is projecting enrolment decline of more than 25 per cent while overall funding has increased by 4.6 per cent. Per-student funding in this school district is expected to be $2,635 higher than in 2000-01 (a 40 per cent increase).
- The Province has invested $343,000 since 2007 to establish and operate four StrongStart BC centres in Campbell River.
